I had this very same assignment in my Graphic Design Introduction class. It is called Type As Image, where the word and drawings represent the meaning of the word itself. I have seen a bunch of good examples of this, but it might be hard to explain the images for you to understand what I saw. I can give you some of the words and try to explain what I saw, and hope you get the gist of it.
Hat Box - it was a drawing of a round hat box, the top part of the box (the lid) had the word Hat written, like wrapped, over it, and the word Box was on the bottom part of the box the same way.
Mathematics - the word was written with a bunch of mathematical symbols, like M∀+H∉=M-∀+I½C¼S⅛∢
The best words are verbs, because you can describe them with the letters acting like the verb. For example:
Disappear- Would be something like... DISApea and each letter gets lighter until the last letter, the r, in not even there.
Break- and the letters are broken.
I hope this helps.

I just saw a commercial for Amp--you know the Mountain Dew engery drink...you could use that and draw an actual amp... It's all I got, and I know it's not good, but I thought I'd share anyway. Good luck!

You could do the same thing with 3 musketeers or Snickers. Good Luck.
