Especially with your guromi being a more delicate fish, I would personally go with a air pump myself, you can get your tubing, check valve, pump and bubble wand all at your local pet shop or walmart for under $15.

All fish need oxygen. Bettas do have the capacity, because of their labyrinth organ, to breath oxygen without an air pump, but even they should be kept happy with a little added air to their tank. But, all tropical fish need, not just an air pump, but a filter. Especially as you are probably overstocked, depending on how many "some other fish" is. You're almost at your limit with just the gourami, "fancy fin" and "sucker." The rule for tropical fish is 1 inch of fish per 1 gallon of water. So, don't get an air pump, get a good filter and make sure you do proper water changes. Have fun and good luck!

An air pump in your tank is strictly cosmetic and adds no disolved air to the tank. The air pump also does not move enough water to create dissolved air, so it is a matter of do you want to see bubbles and run another piece of equipment or not.

Yes get an air pump, Put an airstone or air ring on the end of the tubing to diffuse the air and make it look pretty :)

I have an aerator, and no filter on my small tank. My fish seem to last.
