What my mom uses to clean her jewelry is the cleaning solution called Fantastic. It's just a regular household cleaning spray, but it works! :)

Please be very careful when cleaning jewelry, as many solvents and cleaning methods can wind up damaging the piece rather than restoring its original beauty.

For silver jewelry, the safest thing to use is a silver jewelry polishing cloth. These can be found at many local jewelry supply stores. Try to polish the piece gently but thoroughly. Sometimes it takes a few consecutive polishings to restore its original shine. Jewelry retailers will also often polish every piece on a regular basis to maintain its shine.

It's always a good idea to avoid most liquid chemical solvents, as they can damage or change the coloration of the piece. Also, using a toothbrush can often scratch the piece. Moreover, if the piece has stones glued on (many silver jewelry pieces have the stones glued on rather than prong-set), dipping them in any sort of liquid (particularly a hot liquid) can loosen the glue and cause the stones to fall off.

You have to know the material you are cleaning. Buy a cheap ultrasonic machine at a drug store. They work great and you can mix a dash of ammonia in warm water to clean things great and cheap. You have to be careful what types of stones you can clean without ruining them. Pearls are an item you can ruin if you don't know how. The ultrasonic machines come with a list of items you can safely clean in them. I just got one and it is great. No toothpaste that is for dumb people who know nothing about jewelry but cheap stuff. An ultra soft toothbrush with warm running water and dish soap works great. Again be careful of the stone. You can ruin certain stones with improper cleaning. Vinegar never worked on anything not even in douche.

It depends on the type of jewelry! If it is just like gold jewelry with no precious stones you can use toothpaste! Silly sounding I know! It works. But if you have precious stones you need to be careful because you can loosen them and have them fall out and lose them. You can just use dawn dish detergent to give your jewelry a quick shine and that's safe to!

Probably not. It's meant for fake teeth, not jewelry. Buy an appropriate jewelry cleaner (whether it's for gold or silver) and use that- you don't want to ruin your jewelry by accident.

toothpaste is a mild abrasive so be careful but it does a great job
my silver Pandora charms clean by soaking in hot soapy water and rinsing...and they look great...just don't use an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner on them

Toothpaste works on silver. Gold I'm not sure.
