What are Siberian natives called and where can I get pictures of them.

There is no common name for Siberian natives, except maybe for unofficial colloquial names "остяки" (os-tya-KI) and more archaic "самоеды" (sa-mo-YE-dy). Oops, I've just check Russian sources - even these are simply big tribes, living in Western Siberia (actually "остяки" is an old name for "ханты" - KHAN-ty and "самоеды" are now called "ненцы" - NEN-tsy), so they can't be considered a common name for all tribes. The reason of my mistake is that when I lived in Siberia, this is how my local friends born in Siberia referred to them.

I just called a friendly ex - teacher from russia and she said siberian natives are russians plain and simple.Except the people who live way up north and ride on caribu. They are called chukty.
