An evaporator fan was replaced about a year ago because of this problem. Now it is not freezing again. The evaporator fan stays on constantly now. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

If the fan is running the the thermostat is good. Make sure the condenser fan motor is running if its a forced air condenser, other wise if all fans and the compressor are running check the evaporator for frost. if there is a lot of frost then you will need to melt it out before it will work again. No frost is a big problem with the sealed system. (leak or bad compressor) Get a pro or a new box if this is the case. If frost was the problem then find out what failed in the defrost system. Could be defrost timer, termination thermostat, or defrost heater.

If its obviously NOT a compressor problem then try these other obscure fixes.

Defrost the machine. Take it outdoors and use the water from your garden hose to melt the ice build up. Takes 10 minutes to defrost.

Evaporator fan? If its because of a hi humidity / very wet location change the location.

If the evaporator is frozen it will not freeze; 3 main causes defrost heaters bad, defrost timer bad, evaporator drain clogged. Or could be your T-stat or compressor, if the compressor is not running. Also condenser fan.

My HVAC Tech hubby says it is the compressor. Probably cheaper to buy a new freezer.

If this is a freezer alone not a refrigerator freezer, I suspect that it has a freon leak..Or the compressor croaked...
