I went through the same thing! I had to take all previous paperwork into the Judge and told her I wanted it all cancelled.
I then signed papers her lawyer presented in front of the judge
(as a witness). I did have to pay court costs but that was it. We
then went to talk to a marriage counselor for a few weeks to
work out any problems we had. Then we remarried to make it
official again. I know that wasn't necessary but, I wanted to show her my feelings. Since that day 11 years ago I never regretted one minute of it. Remember your kids need their Dad not
a step dad.

Call your wife's attorney ... Better yet after you call him, send a letter to him and to the attention of the judge.
However, you may have screwed yourself, your spouse as respondent may choose not to drop the petition and can go through with it, even though you are the Petitioner.
You can only HOPE she doesn't want to follow through on this. I might add that if you are doing this for your children, the problem that caused you to file for dissolution will still be there. You should look at counseling to work out what the problem is if you can.

Divorce law varies from state to state. You should be able to do a search for your state's divorce laws on the internet, using google "statename divorce law" should present you with the answer on the first hit. In the two that I have read, there is a section explaining how to go about canceling a petition. Good luck!

The quickest and cleanest way is to contact your wife's attorney, tell him you have changed your mind and are withdrawing your petition. He will then contact the court and have the date for mediation cancelled. He likely will ask you to sign off on it as well. This can be accomplished by a quick trip to his office though.

Talk to your attorney and ask them if there is any way of taking it back and retracting it. There should be a way. Your wife need to talk to her attorney too and tell them the same thing... Maybe if a letter is written and you both sighn it this may be good enough but i am not sure. The attorneys will know more.

You need to appear in court, always. Assuming your wife agrees to drop the divorce, then she tells her attorney. Both sides notify the court. You need the services of an attorney for this, probably your wife's.
I wish you and your family the best.

Yes, you can. You'll be out the original filing fee, but you just have to fill out add'l paperwork and they will cancel it. Ask the county clerk for the paperwork.
