I want to know what kind of relation between assyrian and syrian, i think assyrian is a wider conception, but why are they written in a similar way? Is it because sun letters with definite article assimilate and double the consonant?
Can you write down the two words in arabic?
Thank you!!!

Assyrians are the ancient people of Mesopotamia, while Syrians are the citizens of Syria--the modern day country. Syria was named after Assyria because it was part of the ancient Assyrian Empire. Assyrians speak Assyrian and are Christian while Syrians are mostly Muslim [some Christian] and speak Arabic as their first language. Assyrians also can speak Arabic as their second language. Hope I helped!

I believe that assyrians mostly live today in Iraq and they are closely tied to caldeans another group of people.
Their main language isnt arabic where the official language of syria is arabic.
They arent muslim. They are chrisitian and their culture is very similiar to arab culture.

There is no word in Arabic as 'assyrian'. Syrians are called 'SOORI' in Arabic, as written below.

سوري
