Uncle Toni has done a fine job, but Rafael needs to take his game to another level if he wants to consisitently challenge for tournament trophies on grass or hard courts. Maybe he should work with another coach, in addition to Toni. Who could help his game?

Nadal should stand on the baseline instead of so far behind it. Hit the ball deeper, then his top spin will be unreturnable. Also work a greater variety of shots into his game, slice, serve-volley, hard and flat. and down the line tactics.
I agree he should get a new coach. needs to work on strategy.

Nadal is doing great right now but those injuries is a big obstacle for him. To avoid those injuries, he should try to work on reading those cues his opponents gives away so he could adjust his position quicker to the right place and he won't need to run all around the court. Just like Federer does. Thats why Federer is rarely wrong-footed and looks like he doesnt give too much effort when chasing down the balls. Nadal uses too much strength which also results to injuries. But if he does not give it all he got, it does affect his performance in a very big way. A variety in his shots might make his shots more effective and puts his opponents in a defensive position. Other than that, all he needs to do is practice practice practice.

Nadal could inprove his game a lot by starting to play with a large variety. He should try to start playing more on other courts and take out his heavy top spin, specially on clay.
I think Andre Agassi's old coach will help him a lot

Firstly, Nadal needs stay healthy/injury free.
He has a lot of strengths but could add a couple more things to his game.

- play a little closer to base line.
- be able to vary spins (or use less/hit flatter) on shots that can finish points off.
- vary direction/speed/spin on his serves

nadal already works with another coach during the off season for 3 weeks or so.what i think is important for him is to improve his serve and remain injury free.also he needs to bring in more variety cos as we saw at the aussie open his opponents were also returning a lot more balls like he does so probably he gotta not only play defensive but also attack.

He's got enough game to really win against anyone...even Federer. He is so successful on clay because his high looping balls are hard to control....but on surfaces where it doesn't bounce as high as they do on clay....the balls he returns just sit up for anyone of the bigger guns to really pounce on. He needs to flatten his shots.
