Make sure you try the keyboard by itself too. I assume these are going into PS/2 slots (the round purple and green ones)? I'd recommend trying a known good keyboard (or mouse), by itself, in both slots, one slot, then the other. The keyboard will work in the mouse port and vice versa for most PCs.

If none of that works, unplug the computer and hold the power button in. Sometimes this will work, also doing that and just leaving it for a while, then trying again.

Another trick that I've seen work is draining the battery so the system resets itself. If you're handy enough with computers, pull out the battery and put it in upside down.

BE SURE THE COMPUTER IS UNPLUGGED THE ENTIRE TIME! Even after you flip the battery, never plug the computer back in, just wait a while, then flip it back over, then plug the computer back in, but never do it with the battery flipped.

If none of that works there's a good chance you need a new motherboard!
