Place the bottle of breast milk into a container of warm tap water. Let it sit for a couple minutes, swirl the milk around to even out the temperature then check the temperature (drip a couple drops on the inside of your wrist). Empty and refill the container with more warm water if the bottle needs a little more warming. It does not need to be really warm. I have been a child care provider for 20 years and have fed pumped breast milk to numerous infants in my care. About 1/2 of them liked it straight out of the refrigerator. The others only needed enough warming to take the chill off.

I agree with the first answer on the top..that's what i have been told..not to warm milk on the stove or microwave put hot water in the bowl or something and put the bottle in the bowl, but make sure the bottle is closed and keep it like that until warms up, but check the bottle often you don't wanna get to warm...

As others have said, place the bottle in a cup of warm tap water, it takes 5-10 minutes to warm (depending on the temperature of the room, the water will cool down faster in a cooler room).
When you go out and need to heat bottles, it might be an idea to take a thermos of hot water with you. Most of the time cafe owners will give me a cup of warm water to use, but a few have told me to go and use the microwave in the parents room (to which I have to inform them of the dangers in microwaving breastmilk, such as killing the nutrients, and potentially scalding my daughter from heating unevenly). In the parent's rooms, the hot water taps are almost cold, which is good to stop toddlers from getting burnt, but useless if you want to heat a bottle.

To warm breastmilk, heat some water in a coffee mug in the microwave, then place the bottle in the water. This is the indirect heating method we use.
Leaving it on the counter for a bit will also bring it to room temp... that's the temp we prefer to feed our son.
Hope that helps.

I warmed it in warm to hot water,I have always been told it is unclear if the microwave take out any nutrients in the breastmilk so it is safer not to just to be safe.

Put the milk in a bowl of warm water. Don't microwave it, not only does that cause hot spots in the milk it actually kills some of the nutrients found in breast milk.

Run water until it's as hot as it's going to get into a pan or bowl and warm it in the water. Be sure to test milk temperature as usual.
