I have a 3.1 grade average as of now (i'm a junior, just entering my 2nd semester). I do have a lot of good extra-curriclars though and i would like to attend a liberal arts college, either here in the Northeast or California. What colleges would you recommend?

I have no idea what I want to major in yet, english or sociology maybe.

Also my SAT II scores were really good and I go to a private school that carries a lot of weight when appyling to colleges.

No one can really advise you on this matter without knowing your SAT scores.

These scores will enable you to see at which colleges you are likely to gain acceptance easily, and which colleges will be a stretch for you.

When you receive your SAT scores, go to http://www.collegeboard.com and fill out their College Matchmaker questionnaire. That will help you begin to narrow your list of potential colleges.

If you don't have your SAT scores yet, you can use your PSAT scores, but those might not precisely reflect what you are able to achieve on the SATs.

Best wishes to you.

Some of the best liberal arts colleges in the country are in th Northeast such as Williams, Amherst, Wellesley, and Holy Cross which are in Massachusetts. Pennsylvania has good ones like Swarthmore, Gettysburg, Bucknell, and Lafayette. As for California, Pomona is the highest ranked college there, followed by Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, Scripps, and Occidental.
