Absolutely! Intelligent design is not based on scientific principles nor is it in any way scientific! Anything that is based on magic (or an omnipotent being, same diff) does NOT belong in a science classroom. As far as I'm concerned (I'm a college astronomy professor, so I actually do teach about the Big Bang and stellar evolution and life in the universe - and thus I also teach about the evolution of life) intelligent design should not be taught at all.
As a scientist, I'm all for giving equal time to equally correct, competing theories. However, ID is WRONG, and it is not a scientific theory. Thus, not only should it not be given equal time, it shouldn't be given *any* time.

Neither, if it is in a public school. Separation of church and state. Intelligent design has no scientific facts to back up the theory. So I do not even think it should be in a theology class. It is more of an opinion than a theory. Theories are supposed to be backed with at least some scientific evidence. Not purely, here say.

And then I could say shouldn't evolution be taught in an Athiesm course instead of science class? I believe in intelligent design and it very much fits into the scientific scheme of things if you take close observation. Things don't just pop out of nowhere. Our world is based on "causations" where everything is caused by something else. Eventually you are reduced to an irrational conclusion by the theory of evolution. The big bang still had to come from somewhere.

Of course it belongs in a theology class. It requires a creator/god. That's theology.

Yes, since intelligent design doesn't actually exist.

Why must truth be categorized- if it is truth, does it make any difference where it is taught...I say that it belongs in both church and school.
