My DVD burner may be broken...?

Well what happened at 1st was it got forced in, and a peice of plastic came out of place, i went into the cd drive, pulled the plastic back in place, and then i put it back together. When i went to use it, i put in a CD and then it shows it reading for a second, but it cant read the CD... I tried swabbing the reader with a q-tip, and then with rubbing alchoal and still nothing. Is there anything that i can do to make it work? its a DVD-RW burner. I've tried also un-installing it and re-installing it.
