Im getting induced on wednesday, i will be 39wks and 5 days then, and im not worried or scared or anything like that. I just want to know what I should bring to the hospital to help *keep me entertained* and what I should pack for my husband to keep him busy, I hear induced labors can be really quick or take really long, so i want to be prepared for both. I would just like to know from other women who had a scheduled induction, what they brought and what they wish they brought with them to the hospital, so far all i have is a book and i was thinking of bringing in a portable DVD player for my husband, since the hospital im going to only has TV's in the recovery room and not the L&D room, im also going to a military hospital so i dont know if that helps.

Im getting induced because I've had placenta abruption, and many other complications, and the size of the baby at 36 weeks she weighed in at 8.8lbs but its a pound either way, according to ultrasound, and my family is known for having babys over 10 pounds 2 weeks early and all of them csections, and my hips are so narrow and because while in the marine corps i fractured my hips the doctors doesnt want me to get hurt and thinks its in the best interested to go ahead and have one scheduled around my due date, and Yes I do plan on having pain medication, but with my luck with this pregnancy i doubt that I will be in labor for only a few short hours, and although my pain tolerence is pretty high, there is no need to go through the pain if they invented pain medication for this specific reason. but thats just my choice, no need to suffer when there are medically advanced options for pain management

I brought some relaxing music. We even played UNO or cards.. That was fun.. We were just so excited that we could hardly do anything.

I found inducation labour pains really painful, so if you don't opt for pain relief you are unlikely to be sitting around reading or watching TV!
Instead you are more likely to be anxiously watching the moniter for the onset of the next contraction... I found a tennis ball rolled hard in my back helped with some of the pain.
I had an epidural after a few hours, and then it was great to have a TV, play cards, read the paper, books etc. You are in no pain and it can get quite dull. Check whether you can bring in DVD players, as some hospitals don't allow it (I've heard). Try and get sone sleep.
But with the indiction, they can increase the amount of drugs to speed up the dilation and labours. You would be unlikely to be going for longer than 12 hours.

Although I am pregnant (still) with my first, my sister-in-law was induced both times with her children. She also had an epidural, so if you are planning on doing that I would recommend bringing a pillow or blanket from home so that you can sleep through the contractions until you need your energy to push. Even with an epidural the contractions and pushing will drain everything out of your body.

I understand you said you are not worried. Be prepared to have alot of heavy contractions and as far as entertainment when you are induced the last thing you will want is to read, watch tv, etc things go very fast and it hurts BEING HONEST HERE. At least that is the way it was for me. Inductions are no picnic.

I had an induction with my daughter. They didn't start it until about 10 pm so for the first four hours or so we were sleeping or at least trying to. But when my contractions started I wasn't really worried about having anything to do.

bring some relaxing music.....snacks for your husband and drinks...once labor begins you are not going to be reading...I brought crocheting when I was in a long labor with my first child.....I don't know if you went to birth classes and plan to have a natural birth without drugs...but if thats your plan..stick to it..focus on breathing and relaxing between contractions..it is so worth it...you will feel so alert when its over and your baby won't be sleepy...good luck

oh hun you may want to not in any respect ask about induction on the following. human beings will guilt you and examine out to scare you. I were by potential of it 3 circumstances so some distance. in reality it really is what is going to take position. they are going to deliver you to exertions and shipping the position you'll fill out some workplace artwork. you'll then be put in a exertions and shipping room and they are going to run the potison is your cervix is ripe. if no longer, they wil stick something referred to as cervidil on your cervix to reason it to ripen and dilate. that basically isn't smooth. it is going to reason cramping and stress on your vagina. in case you pass instantly to the patosin, it hurts like you're 1/2 way there yet as your cervix begins to dilate more effective, it really is an same volume of discomfort as any frequent exertions. so again to whats going to take position. they are going to commence your patosin by potential of your iv. your cramps will commence to get extremely extreme very virtually imediately and receives worse and worse as you progression. they could damage your water reckoning on your docs orders. if no longer they are going to attempt to attend till it is going on this is own. once your water breaks issues will commence to take position extremely right away and also you may want to ultimately supply delivery. this isn't any longer any differnt than a primary shipping except for the discomfort being more effective extreme interior the begining and the drugs they positioned by potential of your iv. sturdy success.

What's the reason for the induction? That's quite early, especially if it's your first pregnancy.
