i don't consider side-line cheerleading a sport. you're not compeating against anyone and you can't win or lose.
competitive cheerleading, on the other hand, is. in this case you are trying to beat other teams to be #1.

No way. While you do have to be somewhat athletic to do those so called 'moves', cheerleading is a compliment to other actual sports. You dont see 30,000 people buying tickets to see the cheerleaders do you? Edit: You can get hurt walking down the street, that doesnt make walking a sport.

I would because it's a competitive sport. When you play a sport, you could get hurt. In cheerleading anything could happen at any time.

Ofcourse cheer is a sport... My daughters are all star cheerleaders. Ive been to more than my share of practices and competitions..heck my 13 y/o already has knee problems...most of these girls are in awesome shape... even the bigger framed/ muscular ones are stroger than most boys their age... Cheerleaders are athletes

no. i do think it's incredibly demanding and takes a lot of effort, but it's not really a sport in my mind because cheerleaders don't compete against another team in any physical way. they compete one team after another, but not against each other, like you do in soccer or football.
but like i said, it can be very hard and requires a lot of practice and work, so i have respect for people that do cheerleading.

It is an entertainment not a real sport. although they do athletic movements, still fans won't See it as a sport
