In the Philippines on most streets you see trash EVERYWHERE..and "most" people just throw wrappers and bottles on the ground and says or think" well everyone else does it"

is that really the goverments fault?

why can't people just learn to clean up after them selfs? or if theres no where to put the trash..why not put the trash IN one place instead of letting it scatter all around the street? it's not that hard!! other countrys just as POOR or even MORE poor don't even do that..I am tired of driving around seeing people just throwing wrappers around.

just because the place is already dirty don't make it more dirty..

if you traveled to other countries you would understand Philippines doesnt have to be this dirty if we all just pick up after are selfs.

All you need do is read these responses to your question and it is easy to figure out why the Philippines is one huge trash dump. The people lack pride in their country and their surroundings. They expect someone else to do everything for them. One is so stupid he/she says he/she pays "Street Sweepers" how can anyone be so dumb to think that a few thousand Steet Sweepers can clean up after 85 million slops. Others are quick to respond by telling you to clean up after the crap they dump in front of your house and p-i-s-s on your walls. Yet, I do not think you will find people any where in the world that keep their own personal bodies cleaner than the people of the Philippines. I doubt if their is a Philippine Citizen with a dirty a-s they wash it with water after every crap because toilet tissue does not do a good enough job. You would think the pride they take in their bodies would extend to other things. I wish the government would do something like arrest everyone of the slops that litter and sentence them to 100 days of street cleaning and cleaning waterways from 7 in the morning to 7 at night. Just because you are poor does not mean you need to live in a giant garbage can.

It is always easier to blame the Government than to put the blame where it belongs.
Every morning you get to see many Filipino's sweeping outside of the houses---can you imagine what the streets would look like if everybody took the time and pride to clean the road outside of their house.
The laws (IF THEY EXIST) for littering and dumping rubbish should be strictly enforced. Offenders should be given a choice of paying a heavy fine or doing community work (such as cleaning the streets or waterways).
The jails are full of petty criminals get them to clean the streets to work of their fines--this way they become less of a tax burden and at the same time do some good for the community.
Come down hard on anybody urinating or spitting in public places (I have seen men urinating in shop doorways).

Educate the people that the rivers aren't for their trash.
Improve rubbish collection and disposal.
All the province areas I have been to are kept clean its only in the big cities that the rubbish is allowed to litter the streets.

People should. It takes (or so it is said) one generation for habits to change.

Part of the reason could be there are NO garbage cans in most places. I am a smoker and do not like to throw my butts on the ground. I have carried a butt for blocks before I find a trash can (never a city trash can...usually a store or bank).

Recycling programs are little to none here. Garbage is not always collected regularly.

I don't know if anyone has said the litter is the government's fault but GMA agreeing to take some of Japan's hazerdous waste (i.e., needles, diapers, etc) in exchange for allowing more OFWs in Japan does not help to send the right message.

if i just go to malacanang and throw my rubbish there then i will be happy.the poor are being called the dirtiest people in trhe philippnes.even the garbage collector are corrupt.so if the government is not corrupt then the system will work better for the people and you will see the much cleaner enviroment.because our taxes will be use for maintenance of our country not for politicians own pockets that goes to all the arroyos and estradas and many more.now go to where they live you will see not even a dust.

The typical Filipino has no respect for its government. That's likely why they just throw trash everywhere, out of spite. They also scarsely pay income taxes and violate every driving law enacted. Again out of spite for authorities.

In return, the Philippine government does not serve their people. They do not provide ample roads, transporation services, housing, food, medical and employment assistance and commonly abuse their power to steal (often through force) their people's minute financial resources.

Or did I get it backwards? Chicken or egg situation. Regardless, the result is national chaos.

They blame the government because they believe the government should take the responsibility to cultivate the culture for not throwing your rubbish anyway. Government indeed does hold part of the responsibility for causing this. It is a matter of the culture issue and we don't have it from our origins. Of course, individual parts can play their role to influence this but it will be much more efficient if the government support this behind.

Blame the government, coz the politicians don't inspired the filipino people to awaken and do good, they just played their dirty tricks, corrupts and robbers!! they just fight each other and debate over political matters for their own benefits!!

replace old politicians and trapos, let the new generation begins!!

They got to blame themselves first.......that mentality will always keep you guys in the 4th world.

Unite and develop some national pride, look out for one another instead of boasting and snobbing around whenver they receive their OFW remittances.....first steps to cleaning the streets as there will be less trash discarded.....same for the CRs and so on......

I know right. No sense of responsibility. What Filipinos want is a superhero, someone who can solve eveything for them in an instant.
