Hey sally
There are a few reasons why most of the posters are right and you really can't keep much in such a tiny tank. The main reason is that when this small, they are usually not filtered or heated.
You can't keep goldfish in a tank this small because common goldfish can live for decades and grow to over a foot long - the people who advocate goldfish in bowls have no idea what they are doing to their fish..
You can't keep small tropicals like neons either, because they need the stable water only a heated tank with more volume can provide. Also, since they are schooling fish, keeping just a couple is pretty much pointless if you want to keep them properly.
Beta is the only feasable answer here, and even these fish will thrive so much better in a properly heated and filtered aquarium.
Not the answers you were hoping for, but the truth isn't always. The best advice you can get in this situation is to consider getting a larger tank - these days you can find a 10 or 15 gallon setup with heat and filtration for a pretty good price, and it would be your first step into real fish keeping.
Marine fish are a whole different thing and it's best to get some freshwater experience first. Tangs like Bubbles are also very territorial and reach a pretty good size, and require a large, mature marine setup.
Good luck whatever you decide.

The best fish to put in a tank that size is a betta. Not to many other fish will stay alive in a tank that small with out a filter. That yellow fish in the movie is a yellow tang and i would not keep saltwater fish in a tank less then 50 gal. If your thinking about going saltwater do some reading on then.

I know someone that has a tank like that. They have three half inch corydoras, three neon tetras, and two glo-light tetras. They all seem fine in the tank but with 8 small fish, that is seriously pushing it. No. You cant get the yellow tang. Salt water fish need quite a bit of room and lots of attention. Sorry

You really should only have about 1 inch of fish per gallon of water. With something that small you best bet would to get one nice betta.

You could get a fish that is about 1.25 inches long or two that are 0.75 inches long. If you want three fish then they can only be about a half inch each. The yellow tang is way too large for a system that small.

two small goldfish and change the water frequently...less than two gallon tank is just a disaster. You cant really put any filtration in it or really do anything properly for fish maybe you should shoot for a five gallon tank and set it up properly....that way you could have a couple of small fish comfortably. You need to see someone who knows what to do properly
