You have got some good answers, just to add to this if the engine don't crank over then you may have a blown fusible link at the battery or starter. If the engine cranks over then you might try the ignition module in the distributor by checking for a spark at the plug wires by grounding it while someone cranks over the engine (there should be a spark jump to the ground). If the starter is bad, when it did crank over it would have been slow then speed up and started . If the started don't crank over then there is a bad connection or possible a bad neutral switch is another possibility, just put the shifter in "N" then try to crank it over if it cranks then its likely the switch. be sure the E-Brake is on. One other way to check is to short out the starter solenoid on the starter , if it cranks over then the starter is likely OK, The last thing to do is tow it to a pro for a proper diagnoses. Be careful. Good Luck and GOD Bless

Check fuel level first. If fuel is OK and it just quit suddenly without any warning it most likely is an ignition problem. Could be ignition module or ignition coil or both. If you are still stuck on the highway let engine completely cool with the hood open for at least 30 minutes and try a restart and get to a safe location. This is a short term solution if it even restarts at all. You will need a mechanic to repair this problem.

Just had the same problem. Turn the key and nothing. Battery is 100%. Had it towed to garage. The problem was a Starter relay. Not the starter selenoid which is on top of the starter motor. The relay is located in the engine bay.

question for you, every things work . dose the starter work,is the vehicle cranking, there are several things to to check when you turn the ign do you hear any sound from the fuel pump is the vehicle in park position try putting the vehicle in nuetral and try starting again.if you can locate the starter try tapping onwhile someone is cranking it is not recomended but it works, next pull one of the spark plug wire put it next to ground with a screwdriver inthe wire crank the vehicle is there any spark if there is put it back you may have a fuel dilivery problem with fuel injection system or vehicle could have a flood in engine, these vehicle have a vortec engine with a spider web design for injector with a built in fuel pressure regulator sometimes it is better to explain in front of vehicle just remember sometimes starter solenoid is bad and will not make any noise

Do you hear just a click, then starter bad, or just might have a loose connection or either blown fuse or bad relay concerning the ignition system...do this with someone holding the key over..get up under truck and hit the starter with a rubber hammer...might just work..if not, then check starter relay, and ignition relay, and ecm fuse..when you turn key to on position does all the lights come on in the instrument cluster...If not the bad ignition switch..Take shifter and move it from P to D a couple of time and move the tilt wheel up and down a couple of times, then see if truck will crank..email me back with outcome..

Might be the starter or the alternator if you can get anouther battery and then try to start it again also jiggle the wires from the battery this might help as sometimes the wires go bad or get lose.

check the battery terminal connections needs a very good clean contact. Then check the starter for function. It could also be wiring from your ignition switch to your starter; bad or lose.

The starter is bad or the regulator. I am assuming that the engine does not spin and there is no noise at all. If you change battery, and it still does not start the starter is bad.
