Getting it professionally done is NOT an option for me because my mom wont let me do it. My mind is already made up for doing it though so don't try to persuade me to not do it. I am doing it because i like how it looks and i recently found out that if you don't have the ring in for a long time it sorta looks like a pimple and the inside sorta looks like a cold sore (meaning i can hide it from my parents). I've already bought a 16g ring, 18g ring, and a 20g ring. I need to know how to sterilize a needle, make it so it is as comfortable as possible, and care for the piercing. Can anybody help me?

It most definitely will not just 'look like a pimple'.

Here is the situation, I know you don't want to hear it, but a mouth piercing is not something to mess around with at home. Your lower lip has some very large blood vessels in it, and without the proper instruments or experience, you can very easily hit one which would at the very least mean a trip to the hospital (and try hiding that from your parents!). Also, because the tissues in your lip heal very quickly, you would need to leave in the ring without removal for 2-3 weeks for the hole to heal correctly. Even removing a mouth piercing for a couple hours can cause it to start closing on its own. Finally, I have seen poorly done professional lip piercings that have to be fixed by a plastic surgeon. If a professional can mess something up that badly, imagine if you tried on your own!

Try to sit down and talk to your parents again, explain to them that you want to pay for it yourself or that you understand the risks associated with it. If they still say no, then wait. You may change your mind and be stuck with a scar on your face for the rest of your life if you don't carry this out safely. Maybe talk about a compromise, like another ear piercing or dying your hair.

READ ALL OF THIS. EXPICALLY AT THE BOTTOM.

I don't even care if people think this is a shitty answer. You are an idiot, I honestly hope that it gets infected and that you take it out and it gets all nasty and crusty and the bacteria gets trapped under your skin. If your mom doesn't want you to get it done then you should just beg her to death or wait. I'm not trying to dissuade you of this, I'm just letting you know who stupid that you are to do that. But I'll help you be stupid. Rinse out your mouth with mouth wash for 1 full min. Sterilize the needle with sea salt water ( if you have sea salt) no iodized salt. Don't use any thing smaller than the 16 gauge ( you have to have that so the bacterias can do whatever.) Don't use mouth wash but 1 time daily ( if that) after you pierce it. Sea salt water, you'll need it a lot, after every meal, drink other than bottled water, and any contact of something to your mouth, sea salt water rinse, 30 seconds. No alcohol, kissing, any thing with any body part in your mouth for 2 weeks. No smoking for 2 hours after piercing is completed. I'm only helping you because you seem semi-non retarded. I suggest after this one, wait till your mom lets you get it done professionally. Good luck, and do not take it out it it gets infected, take care of it till the infection is gone. I hope this helps.

Grow up, if she says no, then don't do it and REDUCE your risk of getting a nasty infection and/or a nasty mutated scar that people get when it's not done by a professional. Quit being retarded, please. For the rest of the world, your parents and your health. Adolescence is a battle, and there will be blood, but it doesn't need to be as hard as some make it. In not too long you'll move out (hopefully) and get a place of your own, a job of your own, and a life of your own- then you can do what you want. I wanted piercings when I was at home, but my parents said no (I was pissed and hate them) but now that I'm old enough to get one I actually can enjoy my piercings and the fact that someone professional did it. I feel good that I waited becuase I think KIDS that have piercings look poor, trashy, ghetto and that their parents just don't care.

well i did my own piercing at home. since you already have the ring make sure that the needle that you bought it's sterilized, because if it is not then prepare yourself for it to look horrible. just make sure that everything is completely clean. i still opt for you to have it done by someone who knows, because once the needle goes inside the skin and it pops the sound might weird you out and you might do it wrong.

I had a large scar on my lip for over a 365 days and it relatively is in basic terms in basic terms commencing to vanish. I additionally pierced my very own bridge and that i now have 2 holes inbetween my eyes that look ridiculous and could take years to vanish.

I pierced my own lip a few months ago and they're BITCHES to take care of. Please, don't do it if you KNOW you won't take care of it.

But here's how I did it:
A shot of whiskey, a sterilized needle (sterilized to no extent with every sterilizing thing I owned), and some ice and ibuprofin.

Just do it quick. You'll hear a kind of pop and it's real gross, but yeah. Your lip will probably swell, but that comes with the territory.

Clean it often. You don't want it to get infected...If it does get infected or if you need any other tips, email me.

be careful. i no alot of people that have done that at home and have gotten bad infections. or, hit a major vein. but this is your choise. my mom works at a vet clinic and the way she sterilizes is she wraps the utensils in a cloth. then she boils them in water for about 15 mins with the cloth wrapped around at a high temperature. for care, every day clean it with sodium chloride. it tastes like salty water. just dont swallow it. for numbing your lip, use lidocane topical [[its like a rub-on novicane]] it lasts fer a few mins, and isnt as strong as novicane though. you can find all of this either at the store or at the vet clinic. don't forget to burn the needle. good luck, stay safe.
