Well it depends, but most like it's memory. If you do a ctrl-alt-del to get to task manager, go to your performance tab and see how often your page file is being accessed and how much physical memory you have. If you have a lot of available memory and very few hits to your page file then it could be something else.
Go to the process tab and click on CPU to sort by CPU usage. If there's an application that's using a lot of CPU processing it could be a virus or you could need a new computer if it's an application you need.
Your hard drive does effect the speed of your computer. For instance, if you're using an ATA133 you'll notice a slight performance boost from a SATAII hard drive (assuming your computer supports the standard). If your drive is spinning at 5400 it'll help to have a drive with 7200rpm. If your drive has 1MB cache it'll help a little to have more cache.
What's more likely to be causing your slow down is increased applications loaded into memory. So a clean format and reinstall of your software (that you use) will help speed it up. Also, viruses or spyware may slow down your computer. Some of the peer-to-peer filesharing programs install malicious programs that slow your computer down.

the version is that u won't be able to receive something to ur 360 devoid of a hardchronic. with a memory card, u won't be able to receive something, shop track on there, or maybe hack your 360. so hardchronic is way more effective. have self belief me, hardchronic is a ought to bcuz if u play on-line, u ought to receive alot of issues to play.

get more memory then turn off everything that starts on startup like messengers ect and do a disk cleanup and defrag

just get an external hard drive, they aren't too expensive and serve their purpose. you can keep all misc. files saved on the external, and pull them when you need them
