I have not heard of an "official" name. As far as i am aware it is simply platypus researcher.

I don't think there is a name for a platypus researcher. But there are names for the groups of nimals that the platypus falls into.

Ordo monotremata.
I would guess a monotrematologist but that would include the echidna as well.
