Edward 'Winnie-the-Pooh' Bear, sometimes referred to as Pooh.

Named after A.A. Milne's son Christopher Robin's toy bear. Christopher Robin named his bear after the bear "Winnipeg" in the London Zoo.

Winnipeg was a black bear was discovered at a stop in White River, Ontario, by members of The Fort Garry Horse Canadian regiment of cavalry, en route to the battlefields of France during World War I. She was smuggled into Britain as the unofficial regimental mascot. She was supposed to evetually go to a zoo in Winnipeg, Manitoba, hence her name, but officers decided to let her stay in London, where she was much loved.
