how do change tail gate handle on a 89 chevy truck?

can't remember how it mounts..too old, but either you will have a plate around handle, that you can remove 2 screws on inside of tailgate and pop out the plate, and handle will be attacked to rods on each end...snap rods off old and secure to new, and then bolt back into place...

TAKE THE OLD ONE OFF PUT THE OTHER ONE.
