I' am 37 weeks and will be 38 on the the 7th
I know this sounds funny but thats my grandpas b-day (10) my brothers (9) and I would like them to share the same b-day. On thursday (the 1st) I was 1cm dilated and I would like to know what can I do at home that you have tried and it works to help me dilate more or for my contractions to be stronger and closer then what they are. This is my first and the first son in my family (expect for cousions baby).

walking might help. it's great that your son had dropped..they had to thin my cervix to get one of my son's to drop, he was really high.
you could ask your doc if he/she would be willing to use that thinning cream on your cervix. it's suppose to thin you out and promote dilation.
course I'm sure you've heard the normal stuff, sex, spicy food, Castor oil, and some sort of tea, oh and visualization (not sure about that one).
my daughter was born around 37/38 weeks. which you are right is FULL TERM! 40 weeks is an approximation for doctors to use in calculating your conception and due dates, so ppl that are having a COW about you not being "full term" need to read up on the literature.
most docs would prefer a baby to be born after the 36th week, but if someone goes into labor on the36th, 37th or the 38th...they won't stop it. the baby is considered TERM in that time frame, 36-40 weeks.
talk with your doc about anything else that she might could do to help speed things along. i know the feeling of wanting that baby coming on someones birthday! my youngest son was born 3 days after my brother's bday. and my daughter was due on my dad's birthday but was three weeks early!
good luck hon! and congrats!

im telling you from personal experience there is nothing short of the doctor inducing you that will get the baby out on a certain date for sure... i tried everything people say to do, walking, swimming, sex, spicy food, castor oil...all of it, mind you i was 100% effaced and 3 cm dilated when i started all this and still took 2 weeks before the baby came and it was my 4th baby. that baby will come when its ready unless the doctor medically induces ( which is really painful and still not 100% guaranteed , could take days after an induction )

As nice as it sounds to have your baby born on a special birthday, there really isn't anything that is guaranteed to start labor. 40 weeks is considered full-term and most doctors will not induce before than without a sound medical reason. When your baby and your body are ready, that is when labor will begin. I have had 4 babies and all were born after their due dates. I tried all the suggestions...have sex, nipple stimulation, eat spicy food, drive down bumpy roads, scrub floors on my hands and knees. What I got was a happy husband, heart-burn, a dirty car, and shiny floors, but no baby. It certainly doesn't hurt you or your baby to try these things, but don't get your hopes up that you can make your baby come on a certain day. Babies come when they are ready.

LOL... Great Question.. Well, I walked alot and swam alot. I went into labor while swimming. It was so funny. I wanted it to be over so I swam and walked every day. It worked for me. I had my son 2 weeks early and I'm glad I did he was already 7lbs. LOL.. Just walk if it is to cold to swim. Walking really helps. I tried alot more stuff but I would not recomend it to any one. It wasn't dangeres just nasty tasting. LOL... Good luck and I hope this helped. CONGRATS!

LOL....as far as I know, babies come when they're ready. Don't you want your baby to be ready to be in this world rather than trying to force him out? Let's not be selfish here.
