Is there a service where an attorney can get the details of a situation to see if they would take a case?

I am looking for an Attorney referral service that could possibly consider taking a civil case. Is there a service in California Bay Area that someone can refer me to?

In order to find an attorney referral service:

Call the State Bar's Lawyer Referral Services Directory at 1-866-442-2529 (toll free in California) or 415-538-2250 (from outside California);

Go to the "County Programs" link above;
The California Bar Association provides the following information:

Check the Yellow Pages of the telephone book under "Attorneys" for a State Bar-certified lawyer referral service; or

Go to LawhelpCalifornia.org to find additional information on a State Bar-certified lawyer referral service.
