Actually, black cars heat up much faster, and to a much higher temp than white cars, (and also cool faster in winter) because black transfers heat better (this is why your radiator is painted black!) In the late 40s and early 50s, black was the colour used on luxury cars and limousines, because these cars had A/C - a very expensive option at the time! It became a way of saying "I have the money to afford such a fancy car". A/C is now standard on most cars, but people still think of black as being a cut above the rest.

Because if you're spending thousands of dollars on a new car then you want it to look good, and a lot of people think black cars look great. Plus most cars have air conditioning these days anyway so the heat thing isn't as much of an issue.

Why do people buy White cars in snowy areas. Because they want a black car. Amazingly black cars heat up at the same temperatures as white cars. or very close to the same.

why not. black is a sleek colour that symbolises style and elegance. all cars heat up the same and if you use a sunshade when parked and aircon when driving you will be as cool as any other car.
