Well, the Super Bowl uses Roman numerals instead of Arabic numbers because its more appealing...I think.

The Super Bowl uses Roman numerals instead of the year, since the NFL season spreads over 2 calender years. Instead of Super Bowl 2006-2007 they post it as Super Bowl XLI. Its shorter and less confusing to the general audience.

Now, why is XLI equivalent to 41? X(10)-L(50)+I(1)=41. Just in case this is what you were asking. The X placed before the L makes it 40. Its like IV=4.

The X stands for 10 and the L stands for 50. The L gets 10 off for being in front of the X hence 40 plus one = 41

It's in roman numerals. The L stands for 50, but the X in front subtracts 10 = 40. Then the I at the end adds one so you get 41. I know, roman numerals are confusing. lol. I hate them.
