I have cried over every pet that I had to put to sleep or that has died. To me they are part of the family. The only pet I didn't cry over was one I took in that was ill and it died the same night. But I was still sad.

I cried for about a week when my dog died (jack Russel). She was my only pet at the time and my best friend, she was always with me when i was at home. We did everything together, even as i did my homework after school, she would lay on my lap and wait patiently for me to finish so that we could play outside.
when she died, everything at home reminded me of her.
She died at the vets because of heart failure during an operation. Many people think that when their children's pets die, they should make up a story lie they ran Way or something like that, but my dad took me to the vets after school to see her and this really helped me get over her. After wards i was not so much upset because of the idea of death but more because i knew id miss her so much.
I think that it is very important for children to have pets, not that i would want anyone to go through the experience of death on purpose, but the death of a pet at child hood really does help to introduce children to the concept of death. Later on in life i found it much easier to accept the death of people, and i think it is because i had contact with the idea since i was a child, that everything has a beginning and an end, even life..... that it is okay to be upset and heart broken but that death is part of life.

You have know idea how much grief I go through over my pets. When they pass on because of old age I'm humbled that we had a great life together. When I was 18 my very first horse died from colic.I got him when he was 8months old and he died when he was 10,I thought I would never get over it,but I did.A few yrs later I got married an got another horse and we have been together for 25 yrs!!and still going strong. I have also lost 2 German Shepard's to cancer, that was pretty tough to get through too,but thank's to the rest of my 4 legged family I did.
Earlier I printed the Rainbow Bridge Poem, that's always given me a good cry and gives hope that we will all be reunited.

When I was 10 years old I had all sorts of pets. Mice, hamsters, parakeets, guinea pigs, rats, 3 fish tanks. The only "fixed" pets were the dog and cat. They started breeding, so at any given time we had quite a few pets.
I loved it.
Until I hit my teens. Suddenly I wanted to spend more time with my friends and had bunches more homework, the animals started to be annoying.
I wasn't sad when they started dying off. I cried over the cat and the dog of course, but the others I was happy to see go to the "Great Hamster Wheel in the Sky"

Yes, I cried over my lost pets, no matter what type of pet I"ve had. I grieved for quite a while. I still miss my beloved pets. They become a part of your family and you.I even include them in my prayers. I know some day we will be united once more, as with my beloved lost friends and relatives. I like the saying to read for the loss of my pets. The Rainbow Bridge says it all.

I'm not sure I cried over my rabbit's death. It's hard to remember.
He had myxomatosis: the signs were obvious. It's always fatal, and I couldn't risk him spreading it to the rest of the rabbitry, so I took him out, watched him blunder curiously around with his swollen eyes, then laid my butchering loppers over the back of his neck and snapped them shut.
I never cleaned up his blood from the driveway. Melodramatic of me.
He wasn't a house pet, but he was a good, friendly rabbit. Of all the rabbits to get the virus, why him?
Thankfully he was the last we saw of myxomatosis. The rabbitry didn't have suitable insect vectors.
To remember Chester, black French Lop, California.

You cry over ferrets, I cry over the death of intelligent discourse.
Just tell me, can I "get a life" when I return my Cambodian orphan? Maybe I can negotiate a package deal.
I'm going easy on you since you're probably only 12, and you're probably a good kid, but try not to go around being a pain. I know it's tempting cos the internet is "anonymous" and everything but it just gets boring.
