The fact that she managed to grow up, learn to write, and did not submit to racial slurs in keeping her positive attitude is proof of her "traits." She has also helped a lot of people not only by her writing, but personally. She found Nora Zeale Hurston's burial place and had a head stone placed there and the cemetery cleaned up. The words Angelou put on Hurston's stone were kind to her as well. Her books have moved many people and aided the black people in their struggle. Angelou has also worked with congressmen and senataors to help get funding.
