Jail time for perjury. I do not know why it is such a major deal with the Federal prosecutors but that is a real possibility.

In truth the only thing that could possibly keep Bonds from breaking the record would be injuries. He is obviously going to play this year because he just signed a new contract.

Don't forget that Bonds was already an amazing player before he started using steroids. Even though he is slowing down, he will easily surpass the record this coming season, for not every single pitcher can pitch around him.

Therefore, injuries are the only possible reason for Bonds not easily surpassing the record.

Without steroids how close would he have got anyway? He deserves jail time and so do the others who used the stuff, in my opinion Hank will be the king always, He should not be recognized even if he does by chance break the record. Maybe he could get a spot on the correctional institutes team and set some jail-house records.

injury or missing time. I dont think he will go to jail any time soon because he just wont get caught hes been getting away with it for years. But if i were bonds i wouldnt have played this year because more attention would go towards him about being a cheater using steroids if he were to break the record. I would have just let the record go for hs own sake. If he does break the record people will be all over his *** for cheating. So he should have just left and foret about it.

I dislike him w/ everything I have w/ my love for baseball, but he will break it. He will retire AFTER he breaks it. It probably won't be this year, but next year he'll hit his last 5 to 10 HRs and then will be "injured" until there is a playoff race (if there is one). Then he'll look to cash in w/ a book, apperances, etc.

IF he falls short it will be because:
1. Banned from baseball
2. Injured
3. No one will pitch him (even w/ bases loaded, two outs)
4. Jail time

What will happen is that his neck will no longer be able to support his overgrown, misshapen cranium, and the resulting inability to keep his head up will result in a loss of hand-eye co-ordination, meaning he will swing and miss at every pitch and be the first player in MLB history to strike out 300 times in a season.

He will then blame the bat he uses, his helmet, the manager, the coaches, the owner, the fans, the baseball makers, his ex-wife, the president, God, and anybody who is white.

And return next year, and the year after until his head explodes.

injury. look, everyone knows bonds took steroids, but steroids dont help with hand eye coordination which is key to hitting a ball and bonds had hall of fame numbers before he took steroids, he was over 500 HR and stolen bases. the only way barry doesnt break this record is if he get injured badly or they just never pitch to him.

Probably the only way he doesn't make it is if he stops playing after this year and doesn't have enough homeruns. In order for him to come up short this year, pitchers may have to pitch around him sometimes and hopefully he gets injured. I think there's enough pitchers out there who hate Bonds enought to no give him anything to hit, which I hope is the case.

Injury. Let's face it the man is like mid 40's, and he's still with the Giants which will mean he'll have to play outfield. He'll probably tear something running for a fly ball.

The only way he doesn't break the record is if he's not playing. His biggest enemy this season will be the federal government, not opposing pitchers.

The only people that really care are the Giants fans. Real baseball fans no the truth, HE CHEATED!!!!!!

He will never even come close to the Babe or Hammering Hank.

If I was a pitcher he would never even get a chance to swing the bat.
