my dad uses it as a sleeping pill it helps him sleep at night, i heard it being used a lot for depression, no its not good for a kid to be on that medication i don't believe in using pills to solve depression, plus that is a pill that is #2 in the country of abuse. alot of kids take those pills with alcohol and go crazy and than they don't remember anything, so make sure he does not abuse it and i would not let him keep the bottle the kids at school will be pressuring him to give them some if they find out he takes it.

It is a tranquilizer. It is used to treat short term anxiety disorders! Xanax can be used to treat for depression and can be used for alcohol withdrawal. It is not known or established for the safety in children under the age of 18 you would need to check with a Dr. If it is used for any length of time it can possibly become habit forming.

Xanax (Alprazolam) is generally used to treat anxiety disorders and panic attacks. The drug enhances the effects of a natural chemical in the body to produce a calming effect. It belongs to a group of medications known as benzodiazepines because it actually changes the central nervous system to cause this calming effect.

As far as I know, I don't think that there is a certain age limit for using this drug. However, its very important to only take this drug as your doctor prescribes because it can be extremely habit forming. The calming effect can become addictive and people fail to deal with life without having the medicine to "make it all better".

This is bad for anyone. Highly addicting. Try herbs like 5-HTP for moods and Valerian for nerves/sleeplessness
