My eyeliner pencil tends to dry up a little during the winter, even if it's brand new - I've just recently purchased another eyeliner pencil from MAC. Anyway, do you have any solution to soften up the eyeliner a bit so it would glide on a little easier? Thanks :)

I KNOW YOU THINK IT'S THE COLD WEATHER THAT IS AFFECTING YOUR EYELINER!! BUT ACTUALLY PUTTING IT IN THE FREEZER FOR 10-20 MIN. THEN SHARPENING HELPS A TON!!. It doesn't smudge as much when you apply it. But when you sharpen after you freeze, it applys very easy. Or if you don't wanna put it in the freezer you can use a lighter and a sharpener. But i would suggest the freezer. With the lighter trick you wait a few seconds then apply. Sometimes when you apply after you heat it, it tends to clump up on your eye.But please make shure when you use the lighter you sharpen the eyeliner first then just run it threw the lighter flame a couple of times. Do not hold it there. It will catch on fire!!

Hey, I mainly use liquid eye-liners, but hmm let me think. It's logical that during the winter when the % of water in air is lesser indoors due the warming systems in our homes, that pencils can dry up a little. So maybe try to keep it in other place?

Maybe this will help you. Sometimes when I work during the summer and because of the high temperatures pencils get too soft and it's hard to work. I know this will sound funny but when this happens I put pencils in the fridge, so they cool down and also the % of the water in the air of fridge is exactly what my pencils need lol... I usualy don't tell this around but it was my teacher that told me I should do this when I get problems with my pencils...

So my advice, no matter how funny this might sound, when you feel that your pencil has dryed up a bit, place it in the fridge for about 30 minutes before applying it, maybe it solves your problem... It did solve my ;=)

Cheers!

It just needs to warm up a little. One solution is simply to rest it against your skin for a moment to warm it. Another that has worked for me is to wave it over a lighter. Good luck to you, although I imagine your MAC pencil won't have the same problem. It's good stuff.
