in terms of amount of bacteria, it would definitely be between toilet, kitchen sink, sponge, or door knob

My guess is H. On the show "Mythbusters" they did a thing on this; I don't remember the dirtiest place, but they found the cleanest to be the toilet seat.
I'm voting for the refrigerator, because food and food residue spoil quickly, and bacteria build up rapidly.
The remote probably has mostly dust on it, as does your mouse. The stair railing is a good candidate, but it is a dry place and doesn't have much for germs to live on. The kitchen sink (assuming it's not always full of dirty dishes) gets rinsed and washed regularly. A sponge is a real good candidate...moist, warm, exposed to all sorts of germs. Countertops, washed with that sponge are bad, too. Your telephone is exposed only to dust and ear stuff, so probably doesn't have much (unless it's sneezed on!!), and door knobs have little food for bacterial growth.

Depends! Door knob would have more people touching it, IF it's the knob to the entrance of the house; ditto the stair railing. The remote, phone and mouse would depend on the number of people using them. Computer keyboards are notorious for the number of germs, too, but that's not a choice.
So, since I don't know about the knobs or the number of people in the house, I'll say: The sponge, if it doesn't dry out completely between uses. Moisture is very good for germs.
Curious, though: are you going to check these independently, or are you going to take our word for it? Or is the idea to find out how much people know about germs?

well, a remote, the phone, and the door knob dont really get cleaned that often to tell you the truth. they are not really things that i think about, so i reckon they could have a fair amount of germs and stuff.
a sponge would have a lot of germs, cause the are often moist, which is where germs like to grow.
the toilet is pretty clean usually - well in my house anyway. and like someone else said, mythbusters did a thing where they showed that it was pretty clean.
my final guess will be...
sponge...
i think
