I am a 20 year old college student from a small town Rohtak 90kms west from New Delhi. I love animals very much. I wanna do something for animal welfare,rights or protection while staying in my city. But there are no organizations like PETA or others here. So how can i actively engage in animal welfare activities and make people understand and behave responsibly towards wild and pet animals. Plz tell me if u know any site or organisation which can help me. Also tell me if u also love animals or are animal actvist.

Just a little tidbit you may not know. I was told the FBI feels PETA may be a group to keep an eye on. So you may not want to be affiliated with that particular group. But there are many things you can do in your area to aid in the welfare of animals in your community.
A good place to start would be your local SPCA or the local pound. Another way would be to get involved in a program offered by your local SPCA or pound. This first thing to change something is to educate those around you that don't know any better. For instance, you might be able to arrange a "pet day in the park" where you have someone speak about spaying and neutering pets and the importance of it. Offer an obediance class at little or not cost and have games and the like to encourage people to interact with their pets. Remember, animal welfare rights and protection include the proper care of pets that people own. By educating them in the proper care of their pets you are helping the animals to get what they need to be properly cared for.

It's great that you love animals and want to do something about it. You should try to start a recue group. Also, you can join the ASPCA of an area around you. Even if you only send in money to the group they do great things.

Try to find other people in your town and nearby area that share your interest and possibly start up your own group.
