Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy was not afraid to use her intelligence and she was not afraid to do the right thing. She put her children before anything; raised them to be upright, outstanding people, and bore her burdens and pains privately and with quiet dignity. She did not make a public spectacle of the overwhelming pain she must have felt when her husband was murdered, and her brother in law was murdered,

and, she stood by her sister when she was being pilloried by the right wing press because of her personal problems;

Jacqueline was a class act. Period. There was no other way to put it. One word that defined Jacqueline was and is:

DIGNITY.

I hope you find your way in life, and learn the true meaning of conducting yourself with Dignity.

good luck.

Jean, you absolutely deserve best answer! All true and of substance.

Now I am going to add the junk part. She was quite a beautiful woman married to a rich, powerful and attractive man. Not for nothing were those years called Camelot. Also, she was in childbearing years, replete with its own tragedies and joys. And lastly, frankly the Kennedys represented a giant leap into a new generation and national image after stolid Ike and dear but dowdy Mamie.

And Jackie O was a survivor of the worst sort of tragedies, a mother extraordinaire, and a respected professional. Dignity to the end.

Jacqueline Jackie had a strong character. Marilyn seemed to perpetually personify the tender-fragile-little-girl-lost role. Some men looked at her and wanted to protect her from the hurts and struggles of this world and be her "Big Daddy".
