I mean why do i look out of these eyes, this mind? If i had not been born when i was, then i would never have been born or looked out of these eyes. So what made this body get my conciousness? What makes this body have my conciousness, when there are billions of other people out there without my consciousness in them. Why did i get a consciousness at all and why am i me?

hmm, saying that 'you are you because you are you' or because 'if you werent you then you wouldnt be you', isnt really an anwer, its stating the bleeding obvious! :-)

"let the universe take care of the details" - i like that one, but its still an interesting question anyway! :-)

how can i see through other people's eyes and why will i always be myself and not someone else? if the universe is a collective consciousness then why do i only see through my own eyes?

Thank you 'dead serious!'
I think that you must have a soul too :-)
its interesting that you have asked yourself this question from an early age - i dont know anyone who has ever thought about this :-)

turner television, i think that this might be a universal question relating to our position in the bigger scheme of things - in other words its interesting and thought provoking - have a read of the answers and see if it stimulates your imagination

thanks patois - very interesting indeed.
you say that my experiences are unique to me and make me, but you dont say why it is me... for instance my brain could still have the same experiences if i was identical to me in everyway except that i didnt know about it because my consciousness didnt happen to form and that my body contained someone else's consciousness.

Imagine you can float out of your body, to a point above and behind yourself, so that you are watching yourself and then ask yourself this question again and notice what new awareness, understandings or learnings you gain from this perspective.
Then imagine to float even farer away and look down to you and to the place you live and the people you are involved with and the city you live in and ask yourself this question again and notice what new awareness you gain from this perspective.
And then float even higher up until you might find yourself achieving a kind of "spiritual" perspective and awareness about why you choose this body and not another one and feel what the thoughts of something higher then you might be with respect to your situation.
Then float back into your body. What would you say now? Is there a reason why you did choose just your body and your life and not another persons body or life? Might it be that you as an individual do fit perfectly to where you are now or do you have other thoughts?

Sounds like you have a soul. My theory is that, it sounds scary but the fact is, most people here on earth don't have souls. They are merely here to fill the space and do their job and die. Only selected ones have soul you by asking that question is a fact that you have a soul. I have asked that since I was very little and still asking. So the people who are answer this without the soul have no idea what you're talking about. To others who answered your questions: PEOPLE DO YOU HAVE A SOUL IN YOU? OR ARE YOU A DRONE? I'M BEING DEAD SERIOUS.

I apologize and mean no disrespect but had to offer my opinion. Take it lightheartedly, and believe that most often I am DEEP.

YOU aren't ME because in my small personna there isn't ROOM enough to offer space to another to possibly inhabit ME. Likewise I cannot inhabit you, change what you were designed for, and probably wouldn't want to.

Again, and with all due respect, "Think less, Enjoy,,,more". As a wonderful, intelligent, intuitive, deeply cared for friend of mine says, "Let The Universe Take Care Of The Details."

Very interesting. I have this theory that life is a dream. Just as how we go to bed at night and dream, I think that we are dreaming now, and probably when we wake up we die. I say it is a dream because when we go to bed and dream, we can take nothing out of our dream with us. When we die we can take nothing out of this life with us. OK, you say it can't be a dream because we live for 20 or 60 or 80 years, but what is this in the whole scheme of things, say billions and billions of years. We spend more time in our bed dreams than we do in the whole scheme of things in our life on earth. I know it sounds crazy, but believe me, I am convinced it is a dream.

It's simple. You couldn't possibly be anything other than what you are. If you weren't what you are, with that mind and that consciousness and those eyes, then you wouldn't be you, would you?! You didn't 'get' a consciousness, consciousness is an essential property of 'youness', without it, you wouldn't exist as you.

Yes it's 'bleeding obvious' but you asked the question!!!! :)

The simplest equation to this question starts with DNA>

In the age of reason: we were created by human beings with two different DNA patterns of probabilities. You may have some same qualities as me but our spiritual souls are unique to each and cannot be shared by pure DNA.

God made all of us unique in ourselves so that we are not CLONES!

Oh dear, your parents made you, The Universal Mind is a vast memory bank, it is a silent form of communication for the Human Race.. !!!! We all have our own conscience. But we are all part of the Universal Conscience, it is possible to see through the eyes of others, or they through yours .You will always be yourself. There is a spiritual knowledge of the Transience of Souls.!!!!!!

You have asked a question and i believe you will find your answer. To even know it as a consciousness is a beginning.Yet, you have not told of your journey to this understanding. tell us of your journey and then ask us again. Thank You.

This is what we know objectively so far about the practical origins of human consciousness and individuality. The Universe began with a big fizzle of pure energy appearing. Some of that energy formed tiny bundles of photons that zoom in waves. Two or three photons can come together and form particles, (electrons, neutrons and protons). We call those particles "matter" and we measure mass by the number of those particles. Particles don't zoom. They just shimmer in place. Particles can come together and form families called atoms. Atoms can come together and form molecular elements. Elements can come together and form compounds and compounds can come together to form organic compounds. Organic compounds can come together into complex life forms capable of consciousness and possessing senses. All "matter", including you and I, are made of photons. When photons untangle from each other, they zoom away again in waves. We call photons that are zooming = Energy. We call photons that are tangled up = "Matter" or "Potential energy". Matter can change into energy and energy can change back into matter. That's what Einstein's formula E=MC2 means.

"Equipped with his five senses, Man explores the world around him and calls the adventure Science". Edwin Powell Hubble. Life forms, possessing senses, experience the world. Our perceptions of those sensory experiences and our "feelings" and thoughts are all measureable as brainwaves, which are merely photons zooming off again in pure energy waves. Everything that we see, hear, touch, taste and smell is sent to our brains as electrical signals. (Electricity is just electrons in a flow). Those signals are then sent along neural pathways and can MAKE new neural pathways and then are stored as memory and "perceived". Those memories and our unique network of neural pathways is what we can consider to be our "self" and our "consciousness". Our consciousness is unique to us and us alone and is the product of how every photon that makes up our bodies has uniquely arranged itself from our conception, and, it is the product of every sensory experience we have ever had. In that, there are "instructions" and "memory" tucked away in our DNA that is transferred down from the beginnings of life, our consciousness is partly "collective" and holds, possibly, the sensory memories of all our ancestors and all the lifeforms from which we have evolved from. Our "consciousness" is an on-going accumulation of sensory experiences and memories and musings, a work in progress and intirely unique for each of us.

Here is a picture that we recently made of the actual beginning of the Universe when all of that energy or light, from whence we are all composed of, first appeared:
