You would be wrong. By itself, an R1 is no faster than a 250cc Rebel. it takes a good RIDER to make a bike fast.

Yamaha R1 is a fantastic bike indeed but as far as I'm aware the fastest commercially availanle road bike is the Suzuki Hayabusa.

200 MPH +

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Honda RC51 (rider was arrested for an alleged 205 mph on one a couple years back)...

But seriously, among production bikes there is a gentlemen's agreement among the Japanese manufacturers to limit top speed to 186 mph. There is of course the Suzuki GSXR1300 Hayabusa that can reach this speed, and I believe the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 can probably do so as well.

Suzuki Hayabusa and Kawasaki ZX14 geared to exceed 200, but aerodynamics normally limit to 185 range (though several people have gone 196+ with tailwind). Discussing top speed always opens up a can of worms as test conditions effect outcome.

Yankadong is BS.... no such thing.

The fastest is the soon to be released Ducati Desmosedici RR. Faster than a Busa (Busa is only fast in a staight line) and will handle on the track like the MotoGP bike its molded after.

Price tag is 90k+

35k for a 99R (prerequisite to buy an RR)
60k for a RR

229mph. Guinnes world record most powerful bike.
Another contender WOULD be the Munch 2000, but it's electronically limited as it tends to lift above a certain speed, but if you're interested in these things you should look at it:
