Call the doctor's office in the morning. Have the name and phone number of the pharmacy you will be using handy. Tell whomever you speak to that you need a script for prenatal vitamins. You may be told to contact the nurse's line if your doctor has one. They will either tell you to stop in and pick up the script or offer to call the script in to your pharmacy for you.

Any blood work that I have done is done at a lab independent of the doctor's office. No one at the lab would be able to give me a script for anything. If you're having your blood work done at your doctor's office, you could call ahead and ask that they have the script ready for you to pick up when you go in for your blood work.

If you call the doctor's office in the morning, more than likely, you could have the vitamins in hand by tomorrow evening.

Good luck.

You should probably be able to simply pick up the phone and let them know that you need prenatal vitamins. Assuming you're an established patient and they have started a chart on you, it shouldn't be a big deal to call in a script for the vitamins (it's not as though you're asking for narcotics, after all!!) Until you get them, take a good-quality over-the-counter vitamin supplement.

I think you need a new doctor! They should know to prescribe you prenats without you having to ask!! The first 12 weeks of pregnancy are the most important when it comes to your baby's development and you should have already been taking them, you should have especially been takeing folic acid. Until your next appt. you should go and get a good multivitamin and and extra supplement of folic acid. Even if your appointment is only a week away. Every day is important. Folic acid is vital for the development of your baby's brain and spine!

Oh and FYI, people that are saying you don't need a scrip for prenats obviously don't know that OTC ones are not nearly as effective as the script ones, if they were, then they wouldn't req. a script for any of them.

Call the doctor's office now, tell them you would like the prenatals and ask if you can get a script and you have a appointment next week for lab work and you can pick it up then.

Just go in there and speak to receptionist about your problem.. I'm sure they can have a doc write out a prescription for prenatals for you. For the week w/out them I would suggest Wal-mart.. Talk to the Pharmacist. Good luck

I'm not sure if you need to have prescription prenatals - unless it was specified by your doc.

When my pregnancy was first confirmed they told me to go to the pharmacy and buy "Elevit" prenatal vitamins. I've been taking them ever since (am 30wks now) and baby is happy and healthy.

only a doctor can prescribe meds, but you can call the office and get a perscription called into whatever pharmacy you use. You don't even need to go to the office.

Call your doctor's office Monday or no tuesday and have them call in your pre-natal vitimans into the pharmacy of your choice.
Tell them you forgot to get the script and need them called in and have your pharmacy number ready.

The lab are only tech's.
they do not perscribe meds.
So, it's up to you and your doctor's office.
Lab is just for lab work.

Call doctor's office, talk to nurse, leave message, have them call you back.

You can pick up prenatal vitamins over the counter ... don't need a script. In U.S. and Canada anyway.
