After finding out that he was abused by his Dad, does that explain alot about House's behaviour or is he still just generally a "you know what"?
By the way this is the only show I watch for the whole week...television is just plain bad these days (Bad as in boring).
Is there any "House" forums to chat in?

By the way, yes I realize it's just a t.v show unlike you "superior intellects" who think that people out there need you to point out the obvious. Geez it's just a question. 0 points for you.

Neither.

House is a creature of his own upbringing. His father was a strict disciplinarian and it made him the genius he is so by association he must be a strict disciplinarian to bring out the best in his staff.

He is hardest on Chase because Chase is like him, the son of a domaneering father who asked House personally to take Chase Robert in to his group.

He rides Cameron almost as much because she gets too attached to her patients he must get her to overcome that weakness.

As for Foreman, House picked him because he is black and comes from a low income background, which makes Foreman overly contentious and House feels the need to take him down a peg or two to get him to realize that time is everything in their job.

Does this have anything to do with his reckless disregard for medical protocol and hospital policies? Yes and no.

House follows one basic rule. Patients lie and in a case where time is of the essence, he has no time for disinformation or hesitancy on his part. He ignores others to maximize his time and minimize his confusion.

He is currently hampered by his staff who he lets try and solve the cases on their own. Without them he would probably solve the cases even faster, but; he won't always be there for them. Sooner or later they must move on with careers of their own.

House is not being cruel but parental. They are his children. They will learn to succeed where others would fail, like the one who failed him when he was the patient and nearly killed him, and they will not think twice about what has to be done or what went wrong only what is left undone, so that way they are always moving forward.

I don't think any of this makes him miserable or troubled only calculating and controlling.

To answer your first question....I think he is basically a tortured soul. Has deep pain and doesn't understand how to communicate his feelings with others. One time I read an article where the writer described his personality as "towering romantic doom". A bit dramatic, maybe, but he is a fascinating character (the best on tv, in my opinion) and extremely attractive. Women like men like that, hands down!:)
The only chat forum I know out there is the imdb boards. Go there and type in "House. There is an on-going chat there.
Hope this helps!!!

I absolutely looove this show...and yea, theres definitely noyt alot of shows worth watching now adays...
I actually do think that his behavior was a consecuence of what his father did to him...but i dont think his dad had evrything to do with it ..probably only about 50 percent. I find his character to be very intruiging for some reason...its like he trats evry one like a**holes but deep down u know he does it cuz he kind of cares about the outcome..i guess(im no psychologist..so im just guessin there)

He's both. How can you go through what he did and not hate humanity? The one person he should have been able to trust abused him. How can you trust ANYONE if you can't trust your parent(s)?
