Simple....anyone can memorize 4 or 5 things every day such as a state and it's capital. so do it in short pieces like that. There is no reason to try to memorize everything at once. Just memorize two or three states and their capitals one day and then add a couple of more the next day.

Or memorize the important rivers and their locations -- just three or four each day. Or the physiographic regions or important crops or industries, etc. You get the idea.

The next day, repeat the facts that you memorized the days before and then add the new facts. Doing this, you could memorize all 50 of the United States in just 10 days. Same with the geography of Mexico. Take it in very small bites and work on it everyday.

Like I said, anyone can memorize five things each day.

Well... I have never lived outside of New York State. So, I have no actual knowledge of anything else. Just guessing.

However, I have studied maps. I learned the names of the fifty states of the U.S. alphabetically. I took hours of practice at learning the names and locations of each one (I still get some locations wrong a little), as well as recognizing the capital cities of each state. I memorized each name by studying it, and studying it, and studying it.

There is no hard and fast rule for memorization. The key is to link two bits of information, that is something new with something old. You want to know about Mexico. Break it down. Take a look at each section (province?) and repeat the name many times. Think of something that sounds like each name, or starts with the same letter, or something else that can trigger memory.

If you want physical geography, such as mountains or oceans, then the same idea applies. Find a mountain, river, or valley (or whatever), and link it to something with which you are familiar.
