A ladder from heaven to earth that Jacob saw with angels going up and down.
The story is in Genesis, but I don't know which chapter. 20's or 30's?

there are 2 answer's to this.
1) the biblical jacob's ladder is actually a staircase envisioned by Jacob on the run from Esau. He dreamed he saw a staircase to heaven with angels ascending and decending it.
2) jacob's ladder is a perrenial plant. it's leaves are arranged in a ladder formation and it is topped with a delicate flower that smells real nice.

In Genesis 28 when Jacob was fleeing his homeland after deceiving his brother with the help of his mother, Rebekah, he has a dream from God in which he sees a ladder that reaches to heaven with the angels of God ascending and descending on it. In this dream God affirms the promise that He made to Jacob's father and grandfather, Isaac and Abraham, of making the descendants of Israel into a vast and great nation.
