First, you need the grades. College coaches can lose their jobs a great deal faster by recruiting poor students and bad citizens than by having a losing season. Play TEAM basketball - Together Everyone Achieves More. Twelve players with one desire - with one thought in mind - can accomplish more than twelve "strangers".

Play basic "hard-nosed" DEFENSE. College coaches are all the time bemoaning the emphasis that their players put on scoring. ANYONE can be taught score - CHAMPIONS play defense FIRST, FOREMOST,and LAST.

Find a place to practice FUNDAMENTALS - becoming a fundamentally sound player will certainly enhance your chances of landing a basketball scholarship.

Send a HIGHLIGHT video of some of your best moments from each year you've played - offensively and defensively - to a couple of colleges in which you are interested . Don't send them an entire game - no coach is going to watch 32 minutes of video just to see ONE player.

It depends on your high school, is it public or private? is it a large school in terms of enrolment or is it small. basically if your school normally sends players to colleges after they graduate your chance will be greatly improved to get scouted. If not you are goint to have to pay for school for your first year and try and walk on for the team. You would be suprised how many walk-ons end up getting scholarships even at d-1 colleges. If i were you i would try to get on an aau team over the summer then you can use that to get in contact with some local college coaches.
