There is chicken pox going round my daughter's nursery. She's three and her brother is 11 weeks old. Tonight she has a temperature but no spots that I can see. Do you think this might be the start of chicken pox?? Any one had a baby as young as 2 1/2 months with it?

my daughter was 4 when she had chicken pox,she passed them on to my son who was then 3mths old,he was perfectly fine when he had them,a bit more tearful than usual but other than that,no problems, you need to contact your babies doctor though, even if it is just to inform him/her that your son has them(when or if he gets them) because it needs to go down on the childs medical records.i didnt tell my gp and my health visitor gave me a lecture.as long as you've got calamine lotion and calpol(paracetamol) to keep the temperature down, they should be alright.but seek medical advise.hope this helps.

My three year old son has just had chicken pox and from being ill for two days just before christmas, the spots didn't appear until new years eve. If the baby gets them I would take him to a doctor as I think under 2's and the elderly suffer more with them. Both my sons have had chicken pox and have had all their vaccines.

Chicken pox is most contageous before the spots appear. She may have caught it, but always best to get her checked with your doctor. My daughter caught chicken pox when she was 6 months old, she didn't scratch as much so was lucky not to get scarring. It is better to get it out of the way when they are younger because they won't get it again

No, my son got the vaccine. I'd call the doc right away as it could be dangerous for an infant to get chicken pox. If her temp is 101 or greater you might want to ER tonight or your doc should have someone on call you can talk to.

the pox take a while to appear. can even take a week. My friends son had them and she has a 3 month old baby at home. she went to see the doctor with both and he said they'll be fine. I think it's different for every baby.
Can i sent my baby round? I'd be happy for her to get them now (6 month old). at least she can't really scratch them yet :)

i think it would be the start of chicken pox, and i think it is going around everywhere because my nephews have also got them at the moment. Its also very likely your son is going to get them too if your daughter gets them.

dont panic too much when my daughter caught it she brought it home and my 5 month old daughter caught it, she was like my eldest but better as she couldnt scratch herself, it is best to go to your doctors for some ointment and for information on your son as he is very young, he might not even get it though as he will still have a very high immune system from his mother.

One way to tell if a child has the virus is to emerge them in a tub of warm bath water. If they start to break out on the abdomen, then this is the best way to know then they have the virus.
