Yes, we could become a monarchy. Some of the posts above me have stated that the Constitution really would not allow a monarchy, and that is for the most part true. But if you study history enough, you will see when most monarchies are formed. It happens when corruption is rampant, government is inefficient, and the people are angry at their politicians. A new charismatic leader comes and promises to fix the people's problems, and the country gives him a blank check to do this (just like what happened for Chavez in Venezuela) This now extremely powerful leader soon declares himself to be a king, and there you have it, the U.S.A is a monarchy. Long story short, I believe that America will become a monarchy before the century is out. But it will probabaly not happen in a peaceful fashion.

Encore to Lady Yaz.
It is against the Constitution and Declaration to elect a King or Queen and so instill a monarchy into the United States. And as the U.S. is a capitalistic republic and all government positions are elected by the people, I don't believe that will ever be, at least for a VERY long time.

No. Given their experiences during colonial rule, the founding fathers advocated a level playing field when it came to their political leadership: In theory, any citizen can run for and gain office. So, they made a conscious and deliberate choice not to have a state lead by any kind of hereditary ruler, and opted for a republic instead.
They also chose to not incorporate the European peerage system, which bequeathed unfair social standing and advantages on a group of people by simple circumstance of birth.
The closest America will come to "royalty" is in the form of political dynasties (eg, the Kennedy, Roosevelt and Bush families) where the expectation from within and without is that family remembers will rise to significant political office.

No, not anytime soon. I mean we will always have the elists/uber rich people in America (we are capitalist afterall) but if we ever have a royal family or turn a 180-360 to a complete communist or socialist country it won't happen for another 400-500 years, maybe 200. Anything's possible. But to do any of that, we would need another civil war, or a big change in the constitution.

a million) George Bush used a teleprompter, so did Clinton, so did Reagan, do the different contemporary president. in case you think of Obama is an fool for employing one, then so is the different president for doing the comparable. 2) I have not have been given any concept what it is touching on, regardless of the undeniable fact that it has not something to do with intelligence, yet Obama can spend all of the money he earned regardless of the undeniable fact that he likes, a minimum of he earned his funds instead of inheriting it like his predecessor. 3) it extremely is the type of comedian tale human beings make all of the time. If Bush made a comedian tale on the cost of the warriors he sent to seek for fictional WMD's, might you have laughed? 4) you be responsive to what, i don't supply a fark. We get it, you hate Obama. Congratulations.

they had a British king but got rid of him in the war of Independence, so they won't have another, saying that they might be better off with a royal family
