Nope. Gas is gas. Just make sure you put enough oil in the system. It will probably be about 100K miles before you need to service your system again.

when changing from R12 to 134, you need to use a conversion kit, to change the nipples on the lines, so you can install the 134 refrigerant.. and you should also change the accumulator (rec/drier) and the orphus tube (if applicable). Completely evacuate the system. Pull vacuum, then installed ester oil, and refrigerant.

yes it will, unless you used the retrofit kit, the r-134 is incompatible with the seals used in an r-12 system and they will be deteoriated quickly, which will leak all of your refrigerant out. best thing to do is to have a shop either retrofit your existing system to make it r 134 friendly, or see if they have the eco friendly r-12 replacement. the eco friendly version will not eat the ozone if it escapes, and wont eat the seals

As long as you got all the R12 out, you cannot mix R12 and R134.

True! I loved my first car. Unfortunately, I totalled it; making it my only car so far. But it's ok because, where I live, I don't need one. Anyway, I loved it.
