People were trying to catch Starfire,but they did so much damage that Robin had to stop them. Then others he didn't know assisted him.Cyborg was more self conscience by wereing a coat over his parts. Raven was shyer.Beast Boy was corny. After Starfire explained y she was running they all got together and beat the person who was chasing her.Then, Robin started TT.

In the comics, Robin, Kid Flash, and Aqualad teamed up in the 54th issue of DC's original version of The Brave And The Bold.
The meeting was so successful that after a second outing in issue 60, the group got their own title.
Starfire, Cyborg, and Raven came along when Marv Wolfman and George Perez revived the title in the early 1980s as the NEW Teen TItans.
The animated version basically followed the storyline for Starfire that Nicholias S. stated above, but just concentrating on Robin, Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Raven being the other members of the group instead of including Kid Flash, Aqualad, Wonder Girl, et. al. that were in the original comic book version.
