The blue states are generally richer than the red states. The southern states are concentrated with massive republicans and are highest among proverty rates in the united states. The richest and most well educated people are often democratic such as many celebrities and people such as bill gates, and oprah. Most rich republicans inherit the wealth of their money while liberals are usually risk takers and make their own due to abilities to accept new ideas and abandon tradition. The richest cities are also very liberal such as San Francisco which is currently the leading city in biotech and stem cell research (and New York). Most people in the south are uneducated probably due to money problems and proverty rates. People among the blue states are richer (there is a general trend between education and money). The media is also very liberal (the media is not uneducated trailer folks but college graduates mostly). Does level of education affect which political stance you take in general?

There was a poll a few years back on this. On average the lower 45% voted liberal and the upper 45% voted conservative. The top 10% always seem to vote liberal though....including many of the wealthiest.

Your question and subsequent explanation reveal a tremendous amount of prejudice regarding the people who live in the southern United States. I believe you used the term "uneducated trailer folks" to characterize people in the south.

In addition, your comments reveal a tremendous amount of anti-Republican bias that belies the inherited or married wealth of such prominent Democrats as Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Al Gore, etc.

I think you need to take a drive through the South.

Cities like Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Charlotte, Orlando, Phoenix, etc. are comprised of individuals who are just as well educated and financially well off as those in San Francisco and New York.

You may want to do some research before you ask another question.

Opinions, not based on facts, are nothing more than prejudice.

I think there is just a group of the rich "hollywood foke" that tend to be extremely liberal. San Francisco is liberal but its in one of the most liberal states so it is no surprise that it is liberal. Same thing with New York City and the fact that these two cities are rich and prosperous has nothing to do with the political beliefes of those who inhabit them. San Franciso would have just as much money or probalby more if it was more conservative.

Maybe because many republicans are extremely close-minded, while most liberals are very open-minded. many college students are also open-minded and such, so they become liberals.

also, republicans are power-hungry liars. =]

ok, that was a major stereotype... but it's just my opinion.

It may be only because colleges are blatantly liberal, so the more time you are around them, the more you will soak up liberal stupidity. In the real world (outside tenured state employees), there are few liberals.
