Most MP3 players need around 3 hours to charge completely. My friend said he forgot it was recharging and left it for like 10 hours. Is that bad for the battery?

Not usually. As long as the mp3 player isn't very old, they almost all o them stop charging automatically when the battery is full even though they're still plugged in. Some of the old ones don't quit like that and need to be unplugged, but any player that's at the most three or four years old will stop charging by itself and you can leave it plugged in forever and it won't damage it in any way.

In modern battery technology, no, not really. Also as the guy before mentioned, the benefit of am OEM charger is that most electronics these days will charge 90%, then tricle charege the final 10%. Cutting off ant 100% and charging again ant 90%.

I'm sure his MP3 is fine. One thing I would say though, the opposite to that, letting your battery completly die, too often is bad for a modern battery, just charge it when you need too.. And if you forget about it now and again, it will be fine.

Short answer would be no - it does depend on the type of battery and the type of charger you are using.

Not unless it was an aftermarket charger. OEM chargers will detect a full charge and stop charging.

no, however it does reduce battery life if you charge it when the battery isn't flat (i.e. plug it in when its half full).. and it is also bad to unplug it before its fully charged
