the answer is yes it can have a negative effect if it is an obsession as the other answerer said or has become an addiction . i think that most people would agree that when it is done with moderation it can be not only fun but healthy in a relationship while others would completely oppose it and would tell u right away than yes it is unhealthy and would avoid the subject . i think it only depends in the level and the time which is used on it , but i believe than yes it can definitely become an addiction and have a negative impact in most people who cannot control it .

i found an article in which a psychologist even compares it to being a cocaine addict : http://www.webmd.com/content/Article/110/109826.htm?pagenumber=1 but if u click on page two u will find another one that says it can be healthy in a relationship .

so in conclusion i would say that lack on moderation in anything can be unhealthful
