The most commonly accepted "Fall of Rome" is September 4, 476AD, when Odoacer, a Goth and King of Italy, deposed the Roman Emperor Romulus Augustus.
The fall of Constantinople, the Eastern Roman Empire, is normally set at May 29, 1453AD, when that city fell to the Turks, led by Sultan Mehmet II.
